help urgent please

please could some one help me , i work in a care home in the uk
and my employer is withholdiong everyones wages for 6 weeks, is this legal? We were supposed to get paid today and the money is not in the bank,who can we got to for legal advice?
the owner has now said that if any one goes sick through not having there wages in the bank they will be sacked there n then,We have not been paid since 27 th september, please help as lots of people are depending on wages to pay rent n food and have got kids to feed etc , much help would be grateful

This doesn't sound on 'the up and up'; do you work through an Agency, or belong to a Union?

Hi Racy,

Why are your wages being held? I can't imagine it's legal and I recommend that you seek legal counsel. Not only are you entitled to your pay but probably damages as well, at this point. Is this home privately owned? If so, I wonder if the owner is in financial trouble. Good luck, I think you will need it.

I would talk to some of the other staff working there and seek the advice of a lawyer. It does not look good and waiting can make things worse!
