Are there any travelers out there that were LPN travelers and later became RN travelers? How was the transition? What were your experiences like with travel agencies? I will be a RN in May and want to travel soon afterwards but have been getting negative responses from different traveling agencies. Need insight badly.
I was an LPN prior to becoming and RN. When you become an RN there is a whole different world not only in terms of responsibilty but in oppurtunity. You need a minimum of one year staff experience as an RN to start travelling and still some facilities won't touch you because you do not have enough experience. What you do as an LPN is not what you do as an RN.

I am in the same boat, am an LPN that has had 3 travel assignments (starting
the 3rd next week)And I am also in the
process of obtaining my ADN through Excelsior, NY.
I have had 1 good experience, actually my first....the hospital ended up cancelling our 13 week contract without cause..(they hired their own staff)about 6 weeks into it, and it was promised in my contract, so I mentioned that when I was let go, I was paid for the remaining of the 13 weeks, as was my medical covered.
I was given very nice housing (large 2 bedroom townhome)and actually brough my child with me.
I was even able to go pick out the rental furniture for the townhouse.
I must say this was very unique, compared to my 2nd assignment.
Very poor housing, etc.
My next assignment is in an extremely rural hospital ER..*fingers crossed* that it will be a great experience, I am not sure if it is ok to mention companies or recruiter's names.
From what I am seeing, there are alot less opportunities for LPN's,but there are always positions..somewhere.
Remember, the nursing shortage?

Alot of places are utilyzing the LPN to the fullest
extent of the individual states Nursing Laws.
The agency I am signed with currently knows I am finishing up to sit for the nclex-rn, and they are excited that they will have alot more to offer me once I am an RN.
