Is it always shift work?

So I'm thinking about trying to go back to school to become a nurse but am a little worried how well I'd handle shift work (particularly night shifts).

Are there any jobs in nursing where you don't work shift work and it's more like a normal 8-5 type of job (or along those hours)?

I'm a charge nurse at a psych facility and I work 8 hour shifts - love it! You just have to look around for what you want! You may have to pay your dues on longer shifts but once you get 1-2 years of experience you should be able to find what you are looking for if you are patient.

Good Luck

Clinic nurses and some nurse managers work more "typical" daytime, weekday hours, if you're interested in those areas. The beauty of nursing is that there is so much variation in specialty areas, schedules, and locations.
