Re: Is it all worth it?

Hang in there!! Yes, it is worth the anxiety, nerves, and stretched income. There is a whole world out there for LPNs. I was one for 25 yrs before I decided to go farther and got my RN. My daughter is an LPN and has been one for 5 yrs. She thought it wasn't ever going to end also, but it really goes by pretty fast and before you know it the year is up and over with. then the real fun begins-you have to get a job. Good luck on your school year ahead!!!

Re: Is it all worth it?

It's all worth it if nursing what you really want to do and you're not just going into it for the money.

I've been a nurse entrepreneur for over seven years and no longer rely on nursing to put food on my table. Regardless of what I make elsewhere, I will never give up bedside nursing till I physically have to.

Patient contact drew me into nursing, it is what I enjoyed the most about it. That helps me deal with the dark side of nursing and keeps my spirits up. Having a strong support system (family/friends) helps as well.

Best wishes,

Andrew Lopez, RN

Re: Is it all worth it?

LPN is a course type of dgree at then end of which you sit for the LPN exam, it takes about a year. There are are two ways to get RN, option 1 you can go to two years of collage and get an Associate degree and sit for the exam or then you can go to a tradational four year collage get a Bacholors in Sicence which also allows you to sit for the NClEX. Well, LPN should work under the supervision fo an RN and are not allowed to do some things the RN can. But I guess with the nursing shortage the roles seem to blend for some reason and if you realy look at it LPNs are doing alot.
