agency question I am employeed by a staffing agency. One of my assignments is at a local nursing home. The nursing home offered to hire me as one of their staff nurses. They contacted the agency for a buy out price. The agency came up with a price but they also stated there is a fine that i am responsible for and a fine the facility would have to pay. The amounts are out rageous. I thought if the facility is willing to pay a buy out that would make any fines null and void.I am only working for them one or two days a week. I have taked to other nurses and the administrator of the facility and they to have said that once the buy out was accepted by the agency there was no fine involved. I am an lpn and even the buy out price was higher then the buy out price they paid for a full time RN. Does anyone know of any one I can contact to find out my rights or if what the correct policy in Pennsylvania governing a buy out. Hope someone can help. thanks kathy k

Re: agency question Kathy, I'm not sure but perhaps your state board of nursing could tell you the answer or at least tell you who governs & regulates nursing agencies so you could get in touch with the right folks. That does seem outrageous to me too! Pennsylvannia's State Board of Nursing's number is here: http://medi-smart.com/boards3.htm Please let us know what you find out because I'm sure other nurses will face this same situation sometime & I'd like to know. I hope you get some good help on this! Best of luck.. Sara

Re: agency question I've worked agency in several states and they all have similar rules about being hired by a facility that you have worked for...they are all different. You have to check the agency rules as well as the facility rules.
