PSC students and faculty win state honors

Congrats! PSC nursing students, faculty win state honors | NewsChief.com | News Chief | Winter Haven, FL

Polk State College's Florida Nursing Student Association (FNSA) received 19 awards, including the coveted title of Chapter of the Year, at FNSA's annual state convention held recently in Daytona Beach.

This is the third consecutive year that PSC was selected Chapter of the Year.

In other awards:

• PSC Director of Nursing Dr. Annette Hutcherson was named dean/director of the year. (See the story in Sunday's News Chief or online at www.newschief.com.)

• Lisa Stadelbacher received the Faculty Community Health Award for her 14-year commitment to the Migrant Head Start Center.

• Toni Linck received the Faculty Award for her continued commitment to Children's Vision Screening.

• Schevon Pierre received the Heart Health Promotion Award.

• Mindy Bunn received the Jennifer Williams Award for her commitment to Children's Vision Screening.

• PSC won first place for theme-related project created by Renee Clark, Mindy Bunn and Robin Spangler.

• PSC won first place in the activity (scrapbook) category for a project prepared by Marjorie Figueroa, Amanda Spangler, Katelyn Spangler, Renee Clark, Mindy Bunn, Leila Gomes, Dorette Bennett and Charlie Scofield, with support from Joanne Chappel.

• PSC won first place in the newsletter and Web site categories. PSC FNSA officers and Lindsey Ness-Hunkin worked on these projects.

• PSC won first place in both the Community Health and Heart Health categories.

• PSC won first place in "Breakthrough to Nursing" for PSC's mentoring program.

During the convention, two PSC students were elected to state offices. Michele Duckstein was elected first vice president and Dana McLean was elected Region 4 director.
