Jefferson Davis CC accredited

FYI: The Brewton Standard > News > JDCC nursing accredited

The Jefferson Davis Community College nursing program has earned accreditation for the next eight years.

JDCC President Dr. Susan McBride said she was pleased to announce that continuing accreditation for the Associate Degree Nursing Program with the condition of a follow-up report has been received from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

“I am proud of this achievement,” McBride said. “I commend the Associate Degree Nursing Program director, faculty, secretary and all the staff at JDCC who support this program. We have an excellent nursing program and are pleased that we can provide nursing education in our community.”

According to the NLNAC Web site, accreditation is a voluntary, self-regulatory process by which non-governmental associations recognize educational institutions or programs that have been found to meet or exceed standards and criteria for educational quality.

Accreditation also assists in the further improvement of the institutions or programs as related to resources invested, processes followed, and results achieved. The monitoring of certificate, diploma, and degree offerings is tied closely to state examination and licensing rules, and to the oversight of preparation for work in the profession.”

The accreditation process includes preparing a self-study document describing the nursing program in-depth and an on-site review by a team of nursing professionals from other states.

The review team prepares a report based on the self-study and the visit. That information is presented to the commission.

The commission reviews the information and determines if the institution essentially meets or exceeds the standards for educational quality.

Continuing accreditation is granted for those institutions that do so.

The NLNAC is located at 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 500, Atlanta, GA 30326.
