I plan on starting college in the fall. My dream is to become an OB nurse. I have one question... A couple of years ago, I found out I had contracted HPV from my spouse (who did not know it at the time). I'm worried that because of this, I will not be able to become a nurse.. Does anyone know if this will be a problem?

Re: TMI Question.... I think each state is different, but here in TN, for your nursing physical, they check you for syphillis. That's it. So there shouldn't be a problem. That and of course TB tests but that doesn't have anything to do with HPV hope that helps

Re: TMI Question.... The only things I've ever had to be tested for for any job or for school were TB, drugs, & having titers drawn to prove immunity to varicella & MMR. As far as I'm concerned, anything else related to your health is none of their business as long as it doesn't pose a risk to your patients of affect your job performance.
