I failed out of school this year but absolutely not giving up on returning next year. My problem is that I don't have the financial support not to work during my time in school. I worked full time during my first 2 nursing courses (and it was tough enough for me not to pass!!)I have the regular bills (mortgage, regular house bills)...Does anyone have an idea if there are loans or something to help out with this type of dilemma...or am I holding on to false hope?? I'm not trying to be lazy but I really just want to try to devote all my time to succeeding in school...please help!! thanks!

you need to talk to the school advisors.. There are programs in my state but you have to be an unwed mother then you can go to school and get your childcare paid and get section 8 housing and foodstamps.

There is no such thing as false hope! Keep trying and hang in there. The debt will go away...eventually and it's worth it! Talk to the school and don't be afraid to ask for help from family and friends for other things too!

Student Loans! That's the only way I'm able to do it. There's just no way I can work full time and go to nursing school full time, some people can, but I can't. Check out BankOne's Education One program http://www.educationone.com/ After you apply and qualify for their loan, you must show them proof of enrollment in school and they will send you the check. They don't send the money to the school, the check goes straight to you and can be used for tuition, books, food, rent, any living expenses, etc. I know I'm going to have a ton of these loans to pay off after I graduate, but by then (they give you a 6 month grace period after graduation) I'll have a good job making enough money. To me it's worth it. If you have any questions I'd be happy to try and help. Please don't give up hope! If you want this degree bad enough, you WILL get it!

OMG!! There are SOOO many programs and being devoted to school does not make you lazy.
Check www.discovernursing.com and check the scholaship listings. Then www.fastweb.com and set up a scholaship search, check with your school because some schools have specific scholarships. Fill out a FAFSA, becuase you might be eligible for financial aide and then try getting loans (although loans are usually a last resort) and then, when you are in school, work part time for experience and enhance your resume and you'll find a better job upon graduation, plus it may help with school because you'll know the vocab and other small things that alot of students struggle with.

I work as a phlebotomist, I get $7.25/hr but I would do it for less...it has been a huge help, I qualify for finaide, I qualify for food stamps, and I have two scholarships. My school is paid for free, 100% including books, supplies, lab kits, uniforms...I will never have to pay a dime to anyone when I'm done. Plus, I have roommates who would rather live in a house than a dorm room so my mortgage is being paid for me. I'm actually making money and gaining equity by sacrficing some space.
They create programs like this for a reason, and it drives me crazy that people think they shouldn't utilize them. Write a few essays, and fill out a few forms. A month of hard work means two years of much less trouble!!

There are definitly places out there that can help you. Many hospitals will pay for your schooling if you say you will work for them when you graduate. That is what I am doing. You should look into it.
