nursing?

Hi, I'm currently a biology senior at Cal Poly and am looking into nursing. My overall gpa isn't very good(2.5), but I have a 3.4 in three anatomy and physiology classes. I just got my EMT license in May, and will look for a job as an ER Tech after I graduate. My question is whether I should look at Cal State programs to recieve my BSN or a community college program to just get an RN. What attracts me to nursing is the aspect of being able to care for people. I'm not really interested in management, so would a BSN do anything for me? Also, would I be able to get into a BSN program with a 2.5?

Re: nursing?

I'd say if nursing is what you want, get into it anyway you can.

If your heart is not set on Administration, Nursing Supervisors and so on, try applying to all the BSN programs, Associates Degree, and Diploma programs in your area.

Once you have a license (preferably an RN), you can start working, and/or go back to school.

Most facilities will help pay for schooling if you want to go into nursing or for advanced education.

The 2.5 GPA is usually the minimum that a program will accept for entry into a program. You'll be competing with students that have 4.0 GPAs. I don't say that to discourage you. I do want you to know that a large number of nurses are being turned away due to a faculty shortage and lack of Nursing Slots.
