| Navy, challenge board & working through college I currently live in California. I am on my last 10 months in the Navy, working as a Corpsman. I intend on challenging the LVN board when I am discharged. Has anyone else went this route? Any advise? I worry because I have had plenty of experience working in sickcall and urgent care but zero ward time. Does anyone know how the board is with this? Second; before the licence goes through I am going to need some source of income but I have noticed the help wanted ads always require certification, even for medical assistant. Anyone who has ever had dealings with hospital corpsman know that we are over qualified as "medical assistants". Does anyone know a way around the paperwork requirement so that I may find supplemental income while awaiting my licence? Warm Regards Martti |

| Re: Navy, challenge board & working through college Martti, I am not sure how old this note was but I would be glad to answer any questions you may have about challenging the boards, etc. I was a HM2 before getting my commission in the NC and am now retired. As a manager and a mentor to many staff people over the years, I have learned to navigate the career progression paths quite successfully. Check out my profile for my email address if you are still interested. Mary |
