masters project

I have a 12 question form regarding pain management that I need to have filled out to help me with my masters project. It's a simple true/false.
Don't need names but do need if you are an RN,LPN or student. If possible I would also appreciate the state that you are from.

I will use as many as I can get, the more people that answer, the better.

Thanks in advance for your assistance:

Pain Attitude survey:

1. Observable changes in vital signs must be relied upon to verify a patient's statement that he/she has severe pain.

2. Pain intensity should be rated by the clinician, not the patient.

3. Patients may be able to sleep in spite of moderate or severe pain.

4. Meperidine (Demerol) IM is the drug of choice for prolonged pain.

5. Analgesics for chronic pain are more effective when administered PRN rather than around the clock.

6. If the patient can be distracted from the pain this means he/she does NOT have as high an intensity of pain as he/she reports.

7. The patient with pain should be encouraged to endure as much pain as possible before resorting to a pain relief measure.

8. Respiratory depression (< 7 breaths per minute in an adult) probably occurs in at least 10% of the patients who receive one or more doses of opoid for relief of severe pain.

9. Vicodin (hydrocodone 5 mg & acetaminophen 500 mg) is approximately equal to the analgesia of 1/4 of a dose of Meperidine (Demerol) 75 mg IM>

10. If a patient is relieved by administration of a placebo, then the pain is not real.

11. Beyond a certain dose, increases in the dose of an opoid (narcotic) analgesic, ie. morphine, will not increase pain relief.

12.Research shows that promethazine (Phenergan) is a reliable potentiator of opoid analgesics.

Re: masters project

Ok I'm game. If you want I could post this in the pain management nursing resource section at Medi-Smart -- if you want nurses who fill it out to send an e-mail to you with their answers. If you do that- I'd suggest a yahoo or hotmail e-mail address just for their responses though. Let me know.
