Getting ready to start my nursing classes Hi everyone, I am a pre-nursing student that is getting ready to start my nursing classes in the fall of 2007. I will have my core classes finished this fall, but have to wait for the rotation to start for my program. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me. I am currently finishing up my A&P classes and will be taking microbiology and Psychology in the fall. Anything will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Getting ready to start my nursing classes I am in my last semester of nursing and I am happy to give you advice that I wish I would have had. Attend all lectures. Never miss one. Sometimes they weigh heavy on certain test subjects and if you dont go you will miss out. Tape all your lectures!!! This is important for studying for tests. Follow your outlines while you listen to the tape, it will re-enforce your teachings. Do all your reading not once but twice if you dont get it. I know they assighn alot but it is worth it when you go to lectures and tests. Oh and READ before your lectures. Not after. Memorize your labs. Know what norms are so that you can see abnorms. Its hard but there will be light at end of tunnel. Good luck

Re: Getting ready to start my nursing classes The best advice I can give you is to take some time each night to study. I have learned that you can never spend enough time reading, going over notes, or studying with fellow students. Make sure you don't miss any lectures like mentioned above. If you are one to procrastinate you will need to fix that bad habit real quick. Best of luck with your classes.

Re: Getting ready to start my nursing classes A big piece of advice...get into a good study group!!! This will help take you a long way in nursing school...another thing that I do that I find helps out alot....I do not cram before exams...the day of my exams I get up and study a little then I spend the rest of the day relaxing...I do not open my book or notes right before the test and I always always write my lab values or equations on my test as soon as i receive it so that I don't forget under stress...this has always helped me...If you can remember to relax you wont send your self into fight or flight mode and send all the blood and oxygen right out of your brain and into your extremities. Hope this helps a little...oh and for study aides I have used the "straight A's for nursing series....they are absolutely wonderful and have helped alot.
