Hi everyone I am new here and I am currently taking my pre-reqs at my county college and then I will start taking the necessary courses for nursing school. I am trying to decide if I should take the Certified Medical Assistant class at the local Vo-Tech or continue on for my RN. The ultimate job for me would be to work in either a ob/gyn office or or peds office and just assis the doctor, give injections,take blood, etc. Anyone with advice of what I should do would be greatly appreciated. For what you want to do you don't need to be a nurse. A medical assistant can assist the doctor in the office, draw blood and give injections. You may want to check if the laws are the same where you live. Medical assistant training is a relatively short program and you can take a test to get certified. Check around to different programs because I have heard there is a big difference in costs.
