Challenge

Hi, If you have a patient who has a compromised cardiovascular status (85yrs). Would you rehydrate using a macro or micro drip iv set. Would you want iv fluids running faster or slower.

anyone with cardiac problems should be placed on a fluid balance chart and they are usually put on a fluid restriction- where i work its 1.5litres a day. too much fluid causes overload on the heart and can lead to oedema.
