    Health Insurance

I'm about to take an assignment next month with Faststaff but I haven't signed anything yet. I'm a bit concerned about their health insurance. I've had unitedhealth before and it was awful. Plus I don't like paying over 200$ a month for just myself. Can anyone recommend some companies with free health insurance (or at least better) that has the same reputation as Faststaff?

    My opinion,

Never take Health Insurance from a Company. I keep my own health insurance for my wife and I. BCBS HSA Options BCBS.com
Most companies will reimburse Up To $300 or work more into your pay rate or Travel Pay. Some Don't. Don't think it is a good business to mix your healthcare business with a company you only may be working with temporarily. Recipe for Disaster. Maintain your Health Insurance from your home state and tell them when you are out of state you are Traveling Temporarily. Don't get into trying to explain Travel Nursing/You'd be suprised how many people don't have a clue what Travel Nusing is and you could seriously confuse them into thinking you moved your residency.
I have a new article on Health Savings Accounts on my website you may find interesting. Great Tax Advantage for Medical Expenses & Savings especially for Travelers.

I am with RN Network and my insurance is totally free- I also have NO deductibles, and low co-pays (10% for hospital & clinic, $15/$20 for Rx- includes dental & vision)). I've added my husband to my insurance for $60/week, but the ins for me is free.

I have to agree with this person's quote. Most traveler's insurances ends when their contract ends. If you change your company, in many cases it takes 30 days for new insurance to kick in. I had an experience where I left traveling nursing for a staff position. Within a week of finishing my contract, I had to use the ER. I was not going to use Cobra and I was going to wait for my insurance to kick in in the new job.

Needless to say when I had to go ER I was willing to pay the Cobra Premiums for one and half months. I got jerked around it took the Agency (NursesRx an AMN Company) a long time to get the Cobra Paper work out like 2 months. By having your own insurance no hassle no headaches no chasing companies etc.

The insurance only paid 50% to 70% of the bill to please take the good advise of Maintain your Health Insurance from your home state and tell them when you are out of state you are Traveling Temporarily. When you talk with the agency get them to jack up the hourly rate to replace the health insurance they are not paying

    Re: Health Insurance

Thanks for all the advice ya'll. I contacted Blue Cross today about getting individual health insurance. Right now I pay about 70$ for single coverage every 2 weeks for BC through my hospital. Any estimates on what I can expect to pay for individual plans?
