Precancerous Cervical Cells

Hello. My name is Kate and I live just outside of Philadelphia. I hope it's ok to post about this here, as I've been an absolute mess and have had my fair share of tears and anxiety attacks.

First of all, I'll start by saying my mother was just diagnosed with lung cancer so it's really important for me to hold myself together so I can be strong for her. I just want to get my issue handled so I can get down to Tennessee to be with my mom and take care of her.

What I've got going on is some precancerous cervical cells that were found through my routine PAP. I had these before - probably 20 years ago - and had cryosurgery. Everything's been clean up until last month, and of course I'm worried all over again.

My OB/GYN assures me that it doesn't mean I have cancer, but if I leave the cells untreated, the chances of developing cancer become that much greater.

My question that I forgot to ask her (and haven't been able to recently reach her): What are the chances of me actually getting cervical cancer because I've gone through this before?

I am scheduled for a biopsy and then the course of treatment will be determined, but I'm just looking for a little peace of mind before I have this done. I'm literally driving myself insane with worry.

Any advice you could give would be most appreciated, and if it you can't comment on any of this, I thank you for taking the time to listen.
