| Re: Military Nurses the main reason people join the service is because they can't do anything in civilian life, or don't know what they want to do. i am not embittered only experienced. how many educated prior service officers do you see at the VA? or how many retired generals continue to get their treatment at military hospitals or go to the VA with those lovely homeless vets? i know one retired 4 star who was the prime general in charge of the gulf war, i believe his name starts with an S and he lives in tampa, that refused to go to the central command base or the VA for that matter to have his knee surgery done. why because they are not good nurses and the people that use the VA can't function in society cuz if they can they have private insurance and if retired generals don't have confidence in their own military nurses or doctors, honey you can bet i don't. the military fights that's all they do. i'm sorry that you cannot funciton perhaps staying out of the civilian sector and do your own type of nursing in an area that allows you to be lawsuit free is best suited for you. as i said befor when experience talks you listen, if generals don't use their own service you listen!!!! |

| Re: Military Nurses First of all I'm not at all bored with you, not at all. Why did I get out you asked? Well, I'm military retired for starters... I'd probably volunteer to go back to work in the ER at some hospital in Iraq but I wouldn't physically qualify any longer. I got the see the military medical system both from the prospective of a provider and as a patient and certainly can't complain about quality of care. You said, "i'm sorry that you cannot funciton perhaps staying out of the civilian sector and do your own type of nursing in an area that allows you to be lawsuit free is best suited for you." Really? Since being out I've contracted to provide ER charge nurse coverage to a level 1 trauma center, then served as Director of Nurses at a general hospital... *shhhhhhh* please don't tell my patients or the board of directors at that hospital that "i cannot function", and if those areas are "lawsuit proof" that's great news to me! The VA is not staffed by military doctors or nurses by the way, it's not run by the Dept. of Defense either --- for someone so "experienced" you're overflowing with ignorance. The VA hospitals are staffed entirely by civilian doctors and nurses. That being said you asked how many former generals get their treatment at VA or Military hospitals. I don't know any stats on that but having been confined to a bed in the ortho ward at Brooke for nearly 6 months I can say in all honesty that the military health care delivery system is good but the accomodations are spartan as compared to a civilian hospital where a private room and TV is possible. I've had two additional surgeries since being off active duty and had both at civilian hospitals by choice- not because of lack of confidence in the care available at the military treatment facility, but rather because the civilian hospitals were more comfortable in general. Decides to give this a rest.. G'nite

| Re: Military Nurses sorry son, most VAs are staffed by doctors who have for whatever reason can't practice in the private sector, ie drug use excessive law suits and alot of the nurses are prior service or reservists. i don't believe as an officer in the military you would do what you claim you did. at least i never did it. mostly those that do what you do are enlisted. if you were an officer you would still have your commission and not have to "volunteer". i;m thinking you were some kind of enlisted member and if you were there is no way in any way shape of form you could do what you claim to do as a civilian. ie charge nurse stuff. you are probably a emt and transport patients, start ivs if you are lucky and take vs. if you want to lie please do so with someone who doesn't know what you are talking about. are we thru yet???? why watse you time doing menial things when you can do so much in the service in mopp4? |
