Military Nurses?

Just curious, are their members on this site that are past or present military nurses, or otherwise? If so, please post a little bio of when & where, etc.

Here is my Bio;

REG ANC, MAR 2006 - Present [Madigan Army Medical Center, FT Lewis, WA]

Smile Re: Military Nurses?

I was never a RN in the military but I was a hospital corpsman in the UNS. My exact title was "Otorhinolaryngology Technician". Yup, an ENT technician. It has been years since I left the military. In some ways I regret not staying in the reserves while attending nursing school. I have had several offers to accept a commission as a RN in the USN but currently I have twins that are age 5 and right now they would not be able to cope with my being absent from them for any extended period of time. I do have the up-most respect for all nurses that serve their county in the military.

Kimmiejs - Thank you for that posted reply! BTW, you are certainly an appreciated military veteran, as well as a member of the military healthcare family and I thank you for both!

I left the USMC honorably in 1988, then came back into the military at the age of 42 via ANC Reserve in 2003, and now AD ANC [as of 3/31/06]. Psssst, once your kiddos get to be teenagers, or leave the proverbial nest all together you may want to consider seeing a military healthcare recruiter for that reserve commission. Just a thought to keep in the back of your brain housing group, LOL.

That sounds great but by the time my girls are teenagers I will be close to 50 years of age and I will be living in Australia. Being in the military is a completely different world from the civilian world. Even though I have been out of the military since 1989 in many ways I do miss it

Kimmiejs - Even though you would be near 50 yrs old by the time your daughters are teenagers it would not be a big problem. You would be able to substact the number of prior service years from your chronological age to come up with a military age, so to speak. However, being in Australia does put a kink in such an idea, LOL.

Funny you should mention such. In the AMEDD Critical Care Nursing Course class before mine was a student from the Australian Navy. No joke!
