    Cna

I am new to this forum. I hope to be able to add and to receive knowledge. I have been a CNA for 8 years. This is a second career for me. I am an older adult taking care of the elderly and as such my concerns may (or may not) be unique. I am happy to have found you.

Welcome to the site, sbrown! You may be a cna, but your views would be appreciated. I have seen some nurses who 'ignore' the CNA, unless something is needed. I guess they often forget that you CNA's notice things well before we do. Can you say 'second sense'?

Hope to see you as often as you can drop by!

I guess I have been looking for a site devoted to the CNA. If you know of one, please send me the link. thanks.

It is true we do not get much respect from the nurses or any of the management or administrative staff. In fact, we are usually treated very much like something nasty and smelly on the bottom of someone's shoes. I guess I am kind of bitter. We do all of the hard work. I am not saying that a nurses job is not hard. I think paper work and deadline stress is a difficult stress to be under. This is why I no longer work in the legal field -paperwork and deadline stress. It just is not worth it. I suppose it is too bad that nurses do not get to do much direct patient care anymore. Bureaucrats made it that way. But, the fact remains, we as CNAs do all of the hard work. Yes, we do notice before anyone else changes in a resident and we are seldom given the respect we deserve. In fact, I have seen where some nurses seem to be threatened by a CNAs ability to do this.

    Comments anyone? :rose:

You are more than welcome here! There is a CNA forum, and I believe that hearing about your day(s) would remind us nurses about what you CNA's endure. After all, many of us nurses were aides at one time, and sometimes do forget.

PS....I do remind my aides that I do help lift, roll, and clean up messes. It may take me a minute to lock my cart, or finish what I am up to, but--I'll be there if possible
