Re: Shift change Chaos!!

I couldn't handle it either. Too much nonsense going on with staff as mentioned, always an uneven number of beds, always SOMETHING. And of course admits, discharges, different types of patients. Too much bickering and jealousy it seems all the time. What happened to teamwork, sacrifice, and altruism.

It seems from my experience that who got what, who got more, who got the easy ones, etc. was a constant issue. Like a bunch of selfish spoiled little kids fighting over who got more ice cream or cake.

I don't mean to sound harsh, and maybe I'm exaggerating, but that was my experience on a med surge floor.

Re: Shift change Chaos!!

We had a talk about this yesterday. In Rehab, if someone had 5 out of 6 in isolation, SPLIT THEM UP! Of course, in LTC, the rooms are automatically split in a pre-determined way; if there was problems with a resident, we'd trade off there as well. I know....good in theory, but not always good in practice.
