Re: Let It Go??? depends on what time it is. I may have a few drinks. I may watch sports. I may go up stairs and get on the computer. I may just go to bed. I spend most of my time on the computer anyway, but it helps to take your mind off of other things. I don't smoke, but sometimes I just want to smoke a cigarette. Sometimes I'll gorge myself when I get depressed. Heck, after typing all of that, I do one of those every night, what does that tell you!

Re: Let It Go??? That is an excellent question! If I have had a really hard day and I can get out in the yard that is what I do. While I am in the yard I try to tell myself that life is way too short to bring that mess home. I allow myself about 10-15minutes of post mortum regurgitation and then I focus on home issues. A nice bubble bath is good. I have also just started to have routine pedicures and manicures. We don't take care of ourselves enough. That gives me something to look forward to.

Re: Let It Go??? Hi Judy have enjoyed reading your threads..its my first time at this site and I like how polite we nurses are to one another here..its nice... it answer to your question it depends on how bad my day was..but usually CRANK UP THOSE TUNES IN THE CAR RIDE HOME put on some shades and sorta dance and sing out loud in the car...by the time I get home am in a better mood....then a cook a good meal for myself... have also gotten into manicures/pedicures and once month massages hey if a nurse is not worth those 3 things then who is..... nurse care is just as import to the equation that includes patient care..with out first the latter does suffer..... thank you and keep it comming... stacy

Re: Let It Go??? I worked in peds onco and can say I've needed to unwind more than a few times... The thing I found that helped me the most (although I do indulge in all the pampering above!) was to find somebody that really understood my job. A fellow nurse (not necessarily at work), an old teacher, maybe even online here. I need that release of talking about it to get it all out of my system, and to somebody who can understand on some level - my girlfriend next door doesn't quite cut it. ![]() Feel free to vent to us, Judyd!
