Call me stupid, but I need to ask something

I am a 25 year old stay at home mom who plans to start Nursing school, take core classes actually. Coming from Europe and having not really informed admission officers here at the local college, I am totally confused with the whole nursing school.

If I plan to get an associate's degree, how long does the nursing school itself last and how long the core classes?

Some people tell me 2.5 years and some 5 years. I am so confused.

Thanks in advance, I love this place

I'm doing my pre-req's for our local Associate degree program in nursing. Once I get accepted into nursing school, the traditional program (which runs the standard school year) will take 2 years. If I get into the accelerated (year round with no summer/winter breaks) it will take 16 months.

Sit down with a counselor at the college you plan to attend. They will give you the course outline and the projected timelines. Good luck!!

No question is stupid...and it is confusing.
If you go full time you'll finish faster. I took 18 years to get my BSN!! Was a diploma graduate and went intermittently while raising my family and working.

Schools are different also. Most now require you to get your prerequisites before you register in the nursing program...all of the schools have their own requirements so check before you register. If you have a degree in another area, you may be able to use it or some of it for the nursing.
Your best bet is to check with the school where you want to register.
