| Super Moderator | Africa: Nambia: First Lady Concerned About Nursing April 18, 2005: Africa: Nambia: First Lady Concerned About Nursing Shortage:"Pohamba, a practising registered nurse, also encouraged the newly capped nurses and educators to be steadfast in service delivery of the highest standards. She continued: "I am particularly concerned about the shortage of nursing staff in hospitals and health centres throughout the country. As a professional registered nurse, I have first-hand experience. I know how it feels when our nursing staff work under pressure due to a shortage of personnel. However, the shortage of nurses is being addressed collectively by Unam and the Ministry of Health. It is a welcome effort and must be earnestly pursued so that we can prudently serve our nation." http://allafrica.com/stories/200504181333.html ************************************************** **** Andrew Lopez, RN http://www.4nursing.com |

| Super Moderator | Re: Africa: Nambia: First Lady Concerned About Nursing Interesting question. You could find an answer by contacting the nursing board in the country of interest, or contact one of the international nursing volunteer organizations (Red Cross, etc) and find out what their nurses need. http://www.nursefriendly.com/volunteer Andrew Lopez, RN Nurses' Views of The Nursing Profession http://www.nursefriendly.com/views |

| Re: Africa: Nambia: First Lady Concerned About Nursing Im just deciding to be a RN that travels and it has always been my dream to go to Africa. How does one begin to prepare theirself to go to Africa to work? Is it a difucult task or does it just require determination? I hope that the shortage of nurses in Africa doesnt last forever but hopefully one day I could work over there. |
