I would reccommend getting at LEAST 1-2 years experience in your specialty before traveling- at most assignments you will only get 1-2 days of orientation before you are expected to take a full assignment on your own.
How long after graduating from Nursing school should a new nurse wait to travel? I've looked into travel nursing and see that companies start accepting people with 12 consecutive months experience in their specialty. I don't think it's hard to see why travel nursing is so attractive especially to young new grads-it sounds pretty exciting! But is traveling with 12-months experience (total) too soon? What's your opinion, experienced travelers and nurses? :39:

I would 100% agree with AmandaWIRN. Make sure you have the min 18 months to 2 yrs. You will be expected to take off on the ground running. You will get basically 2 days of orientation.. and then your on your own.
Those 2yrs under your belt will help you with your confidence level and skill level.
Everyone is right, it takes approx 2 yrs for your to get comfortable.
Good luck.
