Re: Update on \"sticky situation\":

Ouch! $26,000 seems more than a little outrageous. I know I am new to this site, but a friend of mine used to work for Nationwide Nurses and got hired on permanently with one of the hospitals she traveled to and once she finished her 13 week assignment, neither she, nor the hospital, had to pay one penny. All she had to do was wait for her 13 week contract to expire. She is now considering traveling again. She has got me interested now, also. We may travel together. How has that worked out for anyone? Any problems traveling with someone?

Re: Update on \"sticky situation\":

Two situations going for you: You never signed ANYTHING that disclosed this bit of info (my Dad was a lawyer). You are not held to anything. However, if the hospital has a contract with this agency, they will surely worry about the finder's fee and be less inclined to hire you.

I am in a RIGHT TO WORK state (Arizona) and never heard about this clause to the law. I had only heard of the benefits it provides to the employer - I need to look into this little number. Thanks for the interesting topic!

Re: Sticky situation re: agency .....

I thought there was just a 90 day waiting period or something . . . .they can't have "dibs" on you forever! That's just FU@#ing ridiculous! I would definately sue.

Re: Sticky situation re: agency .....

I did agency work in the Houston area for about 10 years with the same agency. They also had the same clause, but they told me it's never enforced, because there is no way to enforce it and get their money!! If you had an attorney write a letter that would probably put an end to it. Hope it works out for you.
