Question about BA to Associate RN to BSN...

I asked this question in a roundabout way in an earlier post but didn't really get what I think was an accurate answer. If I have a BA, then go get an RN Associate's (all I can afford--my general career has been outsourced overseas) and then want a BSN, I must be able to to do it in a shorter course of time than four years, right? Meaning, any general electives that I took for a BA must already apply toward BSN (grades were all good, etc.) as long as BSN college agrees to apply them, right? I mean, if you already have your BA, get your RN Associates, you don't have to start all over again with 4 years to get a BSN, right?

No you do not have to start all over again. I received my original degree in 1987 and am now taking the prereqs. for my BSN. They counted all of my humanities and social sciences and most of my business courses went to fill in any electives that they could be applied to. All I had to take over again was my Chemistry and my Biology (all of your lab sciences had to have been in the last five years). Once I am through with my pre-reqs., I'll be ready for nursing classes. Good luck to you.

Are you thinking about going into nursing strictly for the "job security" aspect?

I'd be curious what your previous career what and if it had anything to do with the healthcare field.

Nursing degrees focus heavily on the sciences, BA's in general do not.
