As long as it takes. Could be a few months. I'd put a call in the pediatrician to take a look in any case.

my 3 year old got the door slammed in to her big toenail, causing it to push back and separate from the skin underneath. It bled for a little bit, i put bactracin on and bandage. looks like she might lose her toenail and if she does? how long will it take for a new one to grow back?
