I am looking to start a CNA program in Chicago. Two that I'm really looking at are Samland Institute of Allied health and technology and the other is called Paragon Health services.

First of all, has anyone here gone through these programs?

Second, what kind of info should I get in order to make an informed decision? Here is what I know so far:

Samland

$600 - doesn't inclue uniform or state test, but includes everything else. Meets Mon-Thurs 5- 9 45, clinicals Sat 7- 3 30.

Great paragon

$815- covers all fees including state test and background check. Meets Mon-Wed 4 30-10. Clinicals sat 7- 3 30

I'm not sure if there are factors about these programs that will effect my hirablity? Will I be more hirable if I go to one over the other? What are the factors that would determine this?

According to Illinois Nurse Aide Testing (http://www.nurseaidetesting.com/trainingpgms.asp?zip=606) both programs are approved by the illinois department of health, but how do I know its a trustworthy site? How do I find out for sure?

Any and all input on how to make this decision easier would be great! Thank you in advance!

Ok, so I've trained, passed state test, and even received a pretty pink card with my STNA # on it. Now it's time to get down to business. I need to look for employment. I applied to one agency last week. Then I was tested again!
Is this what is to be expected? I have my heart set on being a home health aid, for personal past reasons. I know the pay will probably be less than half of what I earned before.(I was a sterile room lab tech). But the rewards I'm sure will be worth it. There comes a time in life when you just have to do something that makes you happy. I'm at that time.
