Strike Travel Position

Can anyone help me?
I recently traveled to California for the first time (both traveling and strike). Everything went pretty smoothe except for Trustaff ask me to stay longer in case some of the nurses called in with the "blue flu". I advised them I would only stay out there for an additional week. They only guaranteed me 48hours pay. I faxed in my time sheets and stated that I had not been called in to work. I even spoke to my recruiter once during the week and told him that no one had called me. Now they are saying they can't pay me because I didn't work. I sat in a hotel room for 10 days when I could have been working back in my hometown with my family. NO...I didn't sign a contract!!!! They say they can only pay me to be on call. Which is only $8/hr. instead of $47/hr. I advised them, the hospital I worked during the strike knew I was staying over. I spoke with them (the hospital)during the week and even went over there one day. They were busting their rear ends and I asked if I needed to clock in. Once again....CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME???? other than never using Trustaff again.
