RN/Labor and Delivery

Hi all,
I am in the process of getting an RN degree because i want to be a part of Labor and Delivery. I'm wondering if there's anyone here who is currently in that field and if you could share with me your work experience. I always wanted to work with babies, and i want to make it sure if this is the right path for me
.
Thank you all!!

| | I worked 10 years in L&D. I did spend some time on Med Surg first to get the basic Nursing skills down. Some places don't take new grads in L&D. You may want to work Mother/Baby (formerly called post partum) first. I loved L&D. It can be very happy, very sad, very stressful, but I found it rewarding. If you really like babies, maybe NICU? Perhaps you can check with a hospital and shadow in these areas, or get a job as a tech until you graduate. It may give you a foot in the door. Best of Luck whatever you decide. |
